The First Annual Talent Skate Classic was a Success !

Talent’s first annual skate classic competition was an overwhelming success with dozens of competitors and hundreds of spectators.  The day started out with a rain shower that let up and the community came out in force with leaf blowers and propane torches to dry the concrete.  All the improvements to the park were utilized by the competitors and everyone loved the smooth new surfaces.  Prizes were awarded for all the skaters and the pro division split $2,000 equally between the mens and womens skaters.  The silent auction and raffle were a big success and everyone enjoyed pizza and the post event music.  We will be forming a 501 c-3 non-profit in the near future and are already planning the second annual skate classic along with multiple other events for next year.  The park has regularly seen skaters arriving early in the morning and packing the park till dark.  skaters from all over the west are hearing about the new park and are making it a destination not to be missed.  We invite you to come and experience the park yourself so you too can skate till you drop and spread the word. We want to thank the City of Talent for rebuilding the park and helping to make the event a success.  We also want to thank all the Talent Business Alliance and all the individual businesses that donated money, merchandize, gift certificates and time.  Talent is one of the greatest small towns in oregon.

A Historic Skatepark

Old Town Skate Park holds unique significance as one of the first skateparks in Oregon and THE first in Southern Oregon and Northern California. Built in the early 1990s through grassroots community effort, this history-making park set the trajectory for normalizing, legalizing, and celebrating skateboarding across the Pacific coast. Originally created to provide youth with confidence-building and community-connecting opportunities, it continues to serve as a catalyst for positive development and connection.
